Product Warranty
Effective Date: January 1, 2025
1. Warranty Coverage
Grasscloth Wallcoverings warrants that all Hollywood Abaca grasscloth products are free from manufacturing defects in materials and workmanship at the time of shipment.
Warranty Period: 1 year from date of purchase for manufacturing defects
2. What Is Covered
This warranty covers:
- Manufacturing defects in the grasscloth material
- Defects in the paper backing
- Material flaws that affect installation or appearance
- Color inconsistencies beyond normal natural variations
- Premature delamination of backing (not due to improper installation)
3. What Is NOT Covered
This warranty does not cover:
- Natural Characteristics: Color variations, texture inconsistencies, and natural fiber irregularities inherent to grasscloth materials
- Improper Installation: Damage caused by incorrect installation methods, improper adhesive, or failure to follow installation guidelines
- Improper Storage: Damage from moisture exposure, extreme temperatures, or improper storage before installation
- User Damage: Physical damage, staining, or soiling after installation
- Environmental Factors: Damage from excessive humidity, direct sunlight, water exposure, or harsh cleaning chemicals
- Wear and Tear: Normal wear from regular use
- Pre-Inspection Failures: Issues that should have been identified during pre-installation inspection
- Labor Costs: Installation, removal, or reinstallation labor
- Consequential Damages: Indirect damages or losses
Important: All wallcovering must be inspected before installation. Installation of wallcovering constitutes acceptance of the material. Claims will not be accepted after installation.
4. Pre-Installation Inspection Required
Before installing any grasscloth wallcovering, you must:
- Inspect all rolls for defects, color consistency, and pattern alignment
- Verify the product code, color, and quantity match your order
- Check for visible manufacturing defects
- Ensure rolls are from the same dye lot for consistent appearance
Do not install defective material. Contact us immediately if you identify any issues.
5. Professional Installation Requirement
To maintain warranty coverage:
- Grasscloth must be installed by a qualified professional wallcovering installer
- Installation must follow our published installation guidelines
- Appropriate adhesive for grasscloth must be used
- Wall surfaces must be properly prepared and primed
6. Making a Warranty Claim
To file a warranty claim, contact us within 30 days of discovering the defect:
Please provide:
- Proof of purchase (invoice or receipt)
- Product name and SKU
- Clear photos of the defect (before installation if possible)
- Detailed description of the issue
- Dye lot number from the product label
7. Warranty Remedies
If a valid warranty claim is approved, we will, at our discretion:
- Replace the defective material with the same product (subject to availability)
- Provide a comparable substitute if the original product is discontinued
- Issue a refund for the purchase price of the defective material
Note: Warranty coverage is limited to replacement material or refund only. We are not responsible for labor costs, consequential damages, or any other expenses related to removal, reinstallation, or project delays.
8. Natural Material Disclaimer
Grasscloth is a natural material handcrafted from plant fibers. Natural characteristics include:
- Variations in color, texture, and weave pattern
- Visible natural fiber irregularities
- Subtle shading differences between panels
- Organic texture and surface variations
These are not defects – they are inherent qualities of authentic grasscloth and contribute to its unique beauty and character.
9. Dye Lot Consistency
Grasscloth is produced in dye lots. To ensure color consistency:
- Order all material for a project at the same time
- Verify all rolls are from the same dye lot
- Order 10-15% extra material for waste and future repairs
We cannot guarantee color match between different dye lots.
10. Commercial Projects & Fire Rating
For commercial hospitality projects requiring Class A fire rating:
- Request fire-rated grasscloth at time of order
- Verify fire rating certificates are provided
- Ensure installer follows fire-rated installation procedures
- Maintain documentation for building inspections
11. Limitation of Liability
This warranty is the sole and exclusive warranty for our grasscloth products. We make no other warranties, express or implied, including warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose.
Our total liability under this warranty is limited to the purchase price of the defective material. We are not liable for:
- Installation or removal labor costs
- Consequential or incidental damages
- Lost profits or business interruption
- Project delays or schedule impacts
- Design changes or aesthetic preferences
12. State Law Rights
This warranty gives you specific legal rights. You may also have other rights which vary from state to state. Some states do not allow limitations on implied warranties or the exclusion of incidental or consequential damages, so the above limitations may not apply to you.

We strongly recommend ordering samples before purchasing:
- Evaluate color, texture, and material in your actual lighting conditions
- Verify the product meets your project requirements
- Test compatibility with your wall surface and adhesive
- Review with your installer before ordering full quantities
